Spectacular Gulf Islands

The Gulf Islands have been described as having a Mediterranean taste that is blended with a unique Canadian flavour. The Southern Gulf Islands, which are located just off the coast of Southern Vancouver Island, separate the big island and the capital city of Victoria from Vancouver and the mainland of the province of British Columbia.

The Gulf Islands are known worldwide for their spectacular west coast scenery, sheltered waters, recreational activities, creative and intellectual communities, and as a place to relax and connect with nature.

The Gulf Islands also enjoy what is often described as the best climate in Canada.

The Southern Gulf Islands include hundreds of tiny islands, but most people live on the five largest islands, Salt Spring Island, Pender Island, Galiano Island, Mayne Island and the smallest of the five islands, Saturna Island.

Each island enjoys its own unique character and personality typical of the residents of the Gulf Islands. They are all connected by float plane and B.C. Ferries service to the cities of Victoria and Vancouver.

Salt Spring Island, the largest of the five islands, is considered the commercial and service hub for the other islands, and the home of the Gulf Islands International Program.

Rather than more words, we hope you will enjoy a photographic tour of the islands that collectively make the Gulf Islands such a special place.
